Millions of people from all religions and walks of life
have turned to Kosher foods as a source of healthy eating

The term “Kosher” refers to the body of Jewish law that regulates permissible and forbidden foods.   Kosher foods must meet the complex requirements of Jewish law, and the supervising Rabbi verifies that such is the case for a given food item or serving location.

Typical of laws set in the Kosher code are guidelines to how permissible animals are slaughtered, rules and regulations for purity in the processing of foods, careful inspection of vegetables for insects, and the highest temperatures in the cleansing of utensils and equipment.  Kosher laws further require the full disclosure on the package of all ingredients.   The public has begun to recognize that with Kosher Certified foods, there are no hidden ingredients, and no surprises.

All products and cooking equipment under kosher supervision are inspected on a regular basis to ensure strict compliance with the Kashruth laws.  A Rabbi will hire a person known as the mashgiach to do the actual supervision.  A Hechsher (certifying mark) can be found to identify kosher foods and serving locations.

Recent research suggests an increasing segment of the public are turning to kosher foods.  There were fewer then 30,000 Kosher certified packaged food products in the United States for 1995.  At the end of 2001 the number of Kosher certified products topped 100,000 on food store shelves and is expected to top 1,000,000 by the end of 2006.

It is well documented that millions of people have turned away from the synthetic, processed foods dominating supermarket shelves to a more “natural” food alternative.  Today, more then one-quarter of the market for Kosher foods come not from a particular religious denomination, but from the person who feels,
kosher is just better.”
